1954 International Races

Ken Kavanagh (Guzzi) led from flag to flag in the 250cc race, and won by almost 30s over Jean-Pierre Bayle (Guzzi). Early on it was Hein Thorn-Prikker (Guzzi) who held second place, although he was losing a second per lap for the first 10 laps. But the German privateer lost a lap in the pits with spark plugs troubles and eventually finished only 5th behind Jacques Collot. The Frenchman also had lost a lap in the pits to sort his newly acquired Guzzi after he had dropped it in one of the circuit's curves. Keith Campbell (Velocette) started prudently, but he picked up the pace as the race progressed, and taking advantage of Thorn-Prikker and Collot’s trouble inherited 3rd place in the end, not too far behind Bayle, who had an uneventful race. The rest were outpaced, with only Schaad (Terrot) and Guérin (Guzzi) finishing, one and two laps down, respectively. Camus, Collignon and Sweden’s Kurt Nicklasson were never a factor, and all retired with various mechanical issues.
